Decorating a little girls room, help please??
I really need some help. Over the course of the next week, I will be redecorating my 5 year old daughters bedroom. I asked her about it, and she said she wanted a “Purple room with purple walls.” and for me to “use my imagination”… I really want to do something special beyond painting the walls purple. I really would like her to have the “ultimate little girls room” but I have no sense of decorating, or much help or advice. She is very “girlish” and loves pink and purple, “princesses”, and such. I’ll be painting the walls purple, and her carpet is mauve/pink. I want to stay away from “character themes” so she won’t outgrow it in a couple years. So, can anybody pretend to be from “Extreme Makeover” and give me some great ideas and links? I own, so I’m not under any kind of restraints. I’m also on somewhat of a limited budget to do this, so, please don’t suggest a 0 lamp. Thanks, and for those interested, let me know and I’ll send some pics when done. Thanks. ![]()
CeCe – Yes, please.
Thanks stinkinggenius2003, but we’re without a Home Depot… It’s Lowe’s or nothing.

My daughter is in to those colors to. I could e-mail you some pics of what we did with her walls and room if you would like. It turned out really nice.
Add propecia mechanism your own answer in the comments!

Have her pick out bedding and curtains. They already have the colors you want and the non- theme you’re after. Good luck!
At home depot they have a line of disney colors for paints
let your 5 year old pick her own
My daughter picked a color called ” A wave of the wand ”
which was a pastel pinkish purple – very pretty
Remember that children have a tendency to want very dark colors which should be avoided – or it will appear to be a cave
My daughters room is now
Pink 3 walls, Orange accent wall, Yellow ceiling
Yellow furniture – sounds wild but very cute
Just have fun with it – it can always be repainted
Well, I am not the most artisitic person in the world, but maybe add some glitter to the paint and make a glittery purple strip through the center of the room that you are apinting purple. Make the stripe one shade lighter.
You could also cut butterflys, dragonflies, etc. out of wood and attatch them to the walls. But that depends on a.)Wether you know how to use a wood saw and b.) If your daughter likes that kind of stuff.
There is also a website called http://www.roos-goodies.com that I used to decorate my daughter’s room. They have everything form kitchen stuff to room decor. They ship around the world as well! They are also VERY cheap but have great quality items.
Here is a great site, if anything it may give you a few more ideas for decorating your room. If she outgrows any of the themes they can just be peeled off.

Paint one wall lavender, one pink, one sky blue, one soft yellow. Get princess stickers that can be placed around the entire room, pulling it to gether. Get a canopy Princess bed. Paint a castle on the wall in the corner and build out from there so that her room is in the castle.
You can do almost everything with paint.
