What color should I paint my walls to minimize my purple carpet?

I have a dusty purple plum carpet and I’m trying to sell my house, I was going to replace the carpet but it’s in excellent condition so I was wondering what color I should use to paint the walls to minimize the purple. The walls are currently painted an off white with a touch pink, and I want to keep them off white, but is there a color I can use to dull the purple and make it seem less… purpley?

I appreciate any help with this. Thanks so much. :D

Not sure what shade of purple, but since you feel it’s a bit overpowering, a creamy beige wall would be a nice offset and tone it down a bit. You may want to consider some area rugs (that you can later take with you) which will coordinate well with purple and cover some of the area. Not sure which room the carpet is in, but If it’s throughout the home, then just changing the wall color to a beige should help.
Good Luck!

A beige or a light light sandy brown color. It’ll make it seem more light. If you’re selling your home also I suggest playing light relaxing music when people come to look at it, keep it in tip top cleaning shape, turn on a fireplace if you have one, and put away all clutter.

You can do beige, but if your feeling daring, you could do yellow!

Purple is a cool colour. It is complementary to yellow. Using anything yellowish will accent the purple. Using a cool colour will make the purple seem less obvious. I would go with a light grey colour, towards the blue side. That combination will look spacious and calming. I had light grey on my walls for years and found it very easy to live with. If you really must use an off-white, make it a cool off-white.

If your seriously trying to sell your house, then the purple carpet has to go. Keep rooms & carpets neutral colors. Beige/tans for carpets or if you have decent wood floors underneath, place throw rugs down. Keep walls light. The idea is for potential buyers to see how they would like to decorate it which is easier with light colors, as it makes it more bright, airy & appear bigger.
Put clutter, knicknacks, etc. away, as these things can ve distracting. You want to basically give them a clean canvas to which they can envision how they want there belongings to appear.
Bring your purple carpet with you to your new home. Good Luck!
